Marilyn Sokolof, PhD
Marilyn Sokolof, PhD, is a licensed psychologist and a PATH certified Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning. She’s been a horse-crazy girl since childhood, and for the last 25+ years ago has combined her two areas of expertise to provide Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy to a wide variety of clinical populations. In addition to her private practices, she was Clinical Director of HorseMpower, Inc; developed and directed a program at a residential addictions center; provided services for a treatment school for children and adolescents; and contracted with Trauma and Abuse Recovery centers.
Dr Sokolof is, and has been, a participant of a number of equine-related associations: Treasurer and Executive Council member of HETI (Horses in Education and Therapy International) (retired), co-faculty/evaluator for the Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning PATH (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International) certification (retired), Board Member of Horse Protection Association of Florida, Board Member of Victory Center EAP program in Ukraine, member of Human-Animal Interaction section of American Psychological Association, and Horses and Humans Research Foundation (HHRF). Dr Sokolof has presented at equine and psychology conferences throughout the USA and globally, including England, Taiwan, Ireland, Hungary, Spain and Mexico. She continues to learn wherever she goes. Currently Dr Sokolof provides educational and consultation services through her program Unbridled Therapy.
